Welding is a very sophisticated and technical science that requires mental application as well as hands-on abilities.

Your time is split between classroom learning (math, English and communications skills) and time in the shop practicing shield metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, pipe welding and fabrication.

Program learning outcomes are the knowledge, skills, and abilities that students will 在毕业前取得成就. The outcomes below were developed by the faculty in 焊接技术 with input from accrediting bodies, advisory committees, employers, 等. This collaboration ensures that the outcomes are relevant for careers that this 学位导致.

Students who graduate with an AAS in 焊接技术 will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to pass an all position structural steel welder qualification test in accordance with ASME section IX code standards using the Shielded Metallic 弧焊(SMAW)工艺.  
  2. Demonstrate the ability to pass an all position pipe welder qualification test in accordance to ASME section IX code standards using the SMAW and/or Gas Tungsten Arc 焊接(GTAW)工艺.     
  3. Demonstrate proficiency with cutting procedures and current operation of equipment for metal preparation and fabrication.     
  4. Demonstrate proper set-up and use of welding and fabricating equipment.
  5. Troubleshoot and solve basic welding, fabricating and equipment problems. 
  6. Analyze, interpret, and apply information found on different types of prints and drawings for welding and fabrication applications. 
  7. Display, communicate, and demonstrate the ability to research and apply knowledge of welding information as needed in welding and fabrication application. 
  8. Exhibit and maintain essential employability behaviors.
